Before getting into the cause of pimples, or acne, we should discuss the types of acne people generally have to deal with. The two main types are inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne. If you have blackheads or whiteheads, or both, then you have non-inflammatory acne. Inflammatory acne is harder to identify, and the symptoms are papules, pustules, and sometimes even nodules and cysts.

Acne or pimples can be caused by a variety of influences, such as hormones during puberty, a womans menstrual cycle, pregnancy and taking birth control pills. There are plenty of old myths about eating chocolate or greasy food contributing to acne, but none have been proved. However it goes without saying that if you do find food that seems to cause a pimple explosion, then it would probably be best to keep away from it.

When it comes to acne treatments, in most cases prevention is better than cure. Simple steps like keeping your skin clean, wearing clean clothes and sleeping between clean sheets can go a long way to preventing or at least reducing the severity of your acne. There are also many very good anti acne skin treatments and gels available these days. Keep in mind that a treatment that works for somebody else, may not necessarily work for you. Squeezing pimples should probably be avoided, as this can lead to tissue damage and subsequent scarring.

People of all backgrounds and ages suffer from acne, for the lucky ones its only a few pimples when they pass through puberty, but for some people it can seem like a never ending struggle. The key to winning the fight against acne and pimples is education, try and get as much information about the cause of pimples and acne, and the best treatments and skin care. Combine this with a clean healthy lifestyle and you will be a lot closer to getting the spot free skin you desire/pbr
